About Theo and Diane

Born in Alkmaar, Holland, Theo Glorie grew up near Amsterdam and its European coffeehouse culture. Two months after immigrating to Laguna Beach, California in 1988, Theo met Diane and the two were soon married and running a business together, a flower shop they owned for 15 years.

After selling the shop, the couple traveled the country before deciding to call Key West home. “In 2003, you really couldn’t get a decent cup of coffee on this island,” says Theo. And so The Original Key West Coffeehouse was born.

Theo and Diane still run the coffee shop together every day. He is also a painter and community figure, known for his involvement in the restoration of the Schooner Western Union.
